(Greensboro)----Saying it will be a boost for the local economy, U.S. Rep. Howard Coble (R-NC) spoke today at the dedication of the new Carolinas PGA Section Headquarters in Greensboro. Congressman Coble spoke at the ribbon-cutting of the new golf headquarters building located at Bryan Park Golf & Conference Center.
"I applaud the PGA for moving its Carolinas Section Headquarters from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, to Greensboro, North Carolina," Rep. Coble told the crowd assembled at the dedication today. "Golf is more than just a leisure activity. It means jobs and economic development for our district and state. The 6th District is already home to Pinehurst, the site of past and future U.S. Open Championships. Adding the Carolinas Section Headquarters is another notable achievement for our district. I am thrilled that the PGA decided to ‘come home’ to Greensboro."
The Carolinas PGA Section was founded in Greensboro in 1923, but has been more recently headquartered in South Carolina. The new building dedicated today at Bryan Park in Greensboro will serve as the headquarters for the Carolinas Section, which is comprised of more than 800 golf facilities in North Carolina, South Carolina and a portion of southern Virginia. The Carolinas Section is the largest of the PGA’s 41 sections, with more than 2,000 golf professionals.
