Five Coble nominees receive academy nods

(Washington, D.C.)----Five students who were nominated to the nation's military academies by U.S. Rep. Howard Coble (R-NC) have received appointments so far. Congressman Coble said today that the 6th District students are from Alamance, Guilford and Rowan Counties.
Ryan Davenport and Steven Sauer have received appointments to the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Ryan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Davenport, attended the Davenport Learning Academy. Ryan lives on Witty Road in Summerfield.
Steven attends Northern Guilford High School and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Sauer. Steven lives on Birdsong Court in High Point. He has also received an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
Receiving appointments to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York, are Anna Smith, Dylan Maher, and John Baranik. Anna is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kurt Smith, and is a senior at the Early College at Guilford. She lives on Cross Hook Court in Summerfield.
Dylan, a senior at Gray Stone Day School, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Maher. Dylan lives on Partridge Trail in Salisbury.
John is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Baranik. He lives on Sullivan Court in Gibsonville, and is a senior at Western Alamance High School.
"Five of our nominees have received appointments to the nation’s military academies for the upcoming school year," Rep. Coble said. "It proves that the academies agree with us that this district is blessed with a unique and impressive group of young men and women."
