1. The first place to check is on any receipt notice you may have received from the INS. On that form there may be an estimated time of how long it will take to process the type of paperwork you filed. You should usually wait until that estimated time has passed before inquiring further. INS officials and our office cannot check on any paperwork that is still within the normal processing time. If, however, you have a life or death emergency during this time that involves your INS paperwork, please contact our office as soon as possible to see if we can help.
2. If the normal processing time has passed, you may want to visit the INS office at 6130 Tyvola Centre Drive, Charlotte, NC 28217. The National Customer Service Center number is 1-800-375-5283.
3. If you cannot visit the INS office or if you need more help after you talk to officials there, feel free to contact my office. We will try our best to be of service to you. Also, if you have an emergency that is affected by your INS paperwork, do not hesitate to call.
